Dr. Ashbaker was born in Topeka Kansas but was raised here in the Pacific Northwest, specifically in Forest Grove, OR. While growing up he was active in the scouting program where he achieved the rank of Eagle - the highest rank a boy can receive as a scout. At the age of 19 he went on a mission for his church serving the Spanish people of Los Angeles California. After returning from his mission he received his B.A. from Brigham Young University. Later he attended Pacific University College of Optometry and received his Doctorate of Optometry.
Dr. Ashbaker is therapeutically licensed and enjoys helping patients of all ages with their ocular health and vision problems. He has many years experience fitting all types of contact lenses utilizing the latest materials and technology. He also enjoys co-managing cataract and refractive surgeries.
Dr. Ashbaker speaks Spanish and enjoys camping with his family, coaching soccer, working with a local scout troop, playing golf, jogging, and science fiction movies. He currently lives in Vancouver with Mary, his wife and Ryan, Megan, and Adam, their three children.
