Following up to my knee exam w/Dr Greenleaf.
He indicated that he wanted to get an MRI done on my left knee and I would be contacted for scheduling. I've not heard anything since the initial appointment. Please follow up.

The visit was very efficient and professional. Pre-appointment wait time was minimal, and subsequent tests were done quickly. The wait time for the PA and the doctor was very minimal, and the time spent with the PA and the Doctor went very much as I had expected. Dr. Greenleaf was pleasant and to-the-point about the realistic options for my condition.

Dr. Greenleaf is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who is fellowship-trained in sports medicine and pediatric orthopaedics. Although he treats a wide variety of orthopaedic patients, he is especially skilled in arthroscopic treatment of knees and shoulders. Currently he is an assistant team physician for the Portland Timbers professional soccer team and orthopaedic consultant for the Portland Thorns. Besides maintaining his practice, Dr. Greenleaf also provides orthopaedic support for Nike and local high schools. He and his wife Lisa have three children. In his leisure time he enjoys fly fishing, mountain biking and rock climbing.

Staff was professional and courteous but the wait time was about what I would have expected from a typical physician. In contrast, the Orthopedic and Fracture Clinic where I got my second opinion was much more responsive and provided me with a wealth of information on what to expect from a possible surgery. Needless to say, I am going with the alternative.

If you are potentially having knee replacement surgery, you want the most expert opinion and most experienced surgeon. I did a lot of research and feel that Dr. Greenleaf is the best around. After reviewing x-rays and MRI, he felt that knee surgery was not the best option. He suggested out-patient arthroscopic surgery to clean-up a damaged meniscus area and restore much of the lost function. Knee surgery is probably inevitable he said, but this would allow me to put it off for a few years and have optimum function until then. He could have easily opted for the knee surgery, so I appreciate his very honest opinion.

I was very nervous going into the appointment but Dr. Greenleaf's obvious confidence in my procedure put me at ease. His PA Sheri was so great with answering all my questions. I felt very comfortable and well informed :)
