“This was my first visit with Dr Gilman. Everything went smoothly and as expected. Dr Gilman was friendly and professional. There was nothing really negative about the visit overall, but it was very quick and efficient. I'm ok with that so I'll go back. But others might have a different perspective. The office staff didn't really engage, and it took a while after I arrived for them to acknowledge me. Similarly, when I was leaving, I was unsure if I had to do anything/pay bill, etc. I had a skin check-up which took 15 mins max. Once Dr Gilman left, the assistant was giving me some information, but it was very rushed. They asked me to take a photo of the information, but my phone was in my bag. They said they needed to go and left, so I didn't have time to take a photo. Again, not a big deal as I could remember the info, but something to be aware of if you're looking for a different experience. ”

I’ve been to this practice a few times over the last few years living in Manhattan. They hands down have the rudest doctors of any dermatology practice I’ve ever visited. They will not listen to you or take you seriously even when you explain and clearly get emotional over a 10 year struggle with acne. Go here if you have basic concerns, but for anything serious I highly recommend a more compassionate group that will take time to hear you out and take your input seriously to make a deliberate decision for your well-being.

The staff was very nice. No wait to get in and no wait for the doctor. She was quick but thorough and gave very clear answers to my questions.
I didnt feel like I was really fully assessed. Doctor did not ask me if I had a yearly skin exam, about any history...Just a few basic questions and then gave me a possible determination based on looking at me from a chair across the room. The doctor didnt even look at my skin close up. I was prescribed 2 creams that were each expensive, The whole visit including the MA coming in was probably 6 minutes. I feel like I wasted my time and $ on the copay.

The nurse before asked if I had history of melanoma in my family. I replied yes. The nurse proceeded to respond “that’s what kills you”. I said yes my dad had surgery for it to be removed. And she proceeded to question if I was telling the truth and belittled me when I told her I knew what melanoma was.
The Dr wasn't bad, good bedside manner, and did a good job with the biopsy. I wish she froze for me what I asked, as other dermatologists do. And I wish she gave me instructions for wound care, instead of leaving me with an incompetent office assistant. The problem is that you're mostly dealing with other office staff that will make your experience a nightmare. Their PA called me with report of skin cancer. No details, no follow-up. Told me that someone will call me back that week. Nobody called. I wanted to get my pathology report, and she put me through h?ll with her rotten attitude. I had to come back to the office to get it, and she still tried not to give it to me, or delay it indefinitely. They have decent doctors, but that lady is a poison in their practice. Why hasn't anyone called me about the next step with skin cancer???

From the moment I came I felt very comfortable. Waiting time was minimal, doctor Jordana Gilman was very nice, gentle and knowledgeable. Procedure went smoothly and painless. She explained everything and answered all my questions. Definitely will come back and will recommend her to my friends.

Front staff did not seem too friendly and the person in the room checking me with the doctor. just didn't have that happy feeling. Maybe because it is a Monday.

Although I requested an appointment for one thing (a wart on my finger which was iced/burned off) I do wish that the Doctor was more informative when I asked questions about other concerns. I do not feel like it was a thorough review of my skin nor did the Doctor ask about any other concerns of mine or recommend that I get a skin screening especially due to my fair skin, covered in freckles and sun marks and history of breast cancer. Disappointing and will look for another Dermatologist. Maybe I have to specifically ask for it but it’s probably just another reason to come in and pay a copay. Additionally, the staff has no bedside manner and quite abrupt and brass to say the least. Not a pleasant experience for me at all. I left with no plan to follow up in 3 weeks regarding the wart removal.
great

In and out real quick. I wasn’t there to hang out. Had prepared questions, all were answered. Was seen promptly at appointment time and out in 15 min.

Caring and careful
I felt really dismissed by Dr. Gilman. I'm having some type of mystery reoccurring rash, and have been told different things by different dermatologists. Dr. Gilman brought in her colleague, Dr. Levy, for a second opinion. Both of them talked about me like I wasn't in the room. After she left the room, I thought of another question I wanted to ask her. The medical assistant went to get her in her office, but she wouldn't return to speak to me. Generally, I didn't feel like Dr. Gilman really listened to me or really cared.

Dr. Gilman never discussed any costs with me. I ended up paying an absurd amount of money for a biopsy. Her nurse called me after I chased them for a week, they take no blame and said “she had mentioned there could be a cost”. Her nurse lied about adding additional tests to the biopsy which increased the costs. Do not recommend. Save your money and go to a doctor who will actually help you (and your wallet)

Dr. Gilman answered all my questions thoroughly and I was also seen super quickly. However, the medical assistant was harsh and had a bit of an attitude. When I was asked what I was in for, I replied acne and she said “yeah I can see that”. I was caught off guard because I found this to be very unprofessional and quite rude considering this is a dermatology office. Would not recommend this office for acne treatment unless you’re planning on going on Accutane since that seems to be the only option suggested.
I was rushed through my appointment and was told I could only do a full exam OR ask my 3 questions. The conversation around my question took all of a couple of minutes and I was told there still was no time for an exam. What a waste of my copay.
