Hi, I'm Jose!
I've been a licensed dietitian since 2017. Before becoming a dietitian, I thought that I would become a chef because I love to cook. I even graduated from culinary school, but at the time, I was the heaviest and sickest I had ever been. I was prediabetic, hypertensive, tired, and unmotivated.? I grew up in a big Mexican family, and for us, food was the ultimate sign of love. Unfortunately, too often that means eating too many foods that can create a lifetime of negative health outcomes. One day, I woke up and realized that I had enough. Within a year, I lost over 100 pounds, reversed these health conditions, and enrolled in a nutrition program to become a dietitian.
I have family, friends, and patients that have struggled in the same exact way, no matter their background. Sometimes the way we eat is due to our culture, environment, or family, but we have the power to change these stories and health outcomes. That’s why you never have to feel insecure or ashamed to speak with me—I've been there myself.
In my free time when I’m not cooking or working with clients, I love weightlifting, mountain biking, and salsa dancing.
