Dr. Ferguson graduated as an Echols Scholar from the University of Virginia in 1986. He then joined the Peace Corps and spent two years working as a high school science teacher in Sierra Leone, West Africa. He graduated from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 1994. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Virginia Commonwealth University's Medical College of Virginia in 1998. He has owned and operated Fredericksburg Primary Care, PC, since 2004. He is a frequent recipient of the Patient's Choice Award which is given to those physicians who score in the top 5% on online patient evaluations. He has received the Compassionate Doctor Award which is given to those physicians who score in the top 3% on online compassion scores.
