Dr. Koh was compassionate and thorough - she spent a lot of time with me answering every question I had and really took the time to listen to my symptoms. Joyce Koh, M.D. was born and raised outside of Philadelphia, PA. She graduated with high honors from Harvard College, with a Bachelor of Arts in History and East Asian Studies, and received her medical degree from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. Dr. Koh completed her residency in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and her gastroenterology fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, both in Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Koh draws on a variety of life and professional experiences in her commitment to patient-centered care. She is compassionate and approachable and believes that each patient is a unique person who deserves her careful attention. She enjoys all aspects of gastroenterology and hepatology and is interested in gut motility disorders, such as nausea, diarrhea and constipation. She has a strong academic background and participated in the development of research trials and protocols during her training. Drawing on her experience as a summer research fellow at the National Institutes of Health National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, she also appreciates the supportive role of complementary and alternative medicine in the care of select patients. As a second-generation Korean American, she is interested in serving the needs of Asian American communities.

She was very friendly and informative. She recognizes the examination is awkward and she made it very comfortable. She gave me some options for cheaper meds if insurance wouldn't cover her first choice.

I have seen many gastroenterologist in my time and seeing Dr. Koh was by far the best experience I have had. She took the time to listen to all of my complaints, asked many questions, and gave me realistic options. She didn't push any testing or treatments like most other doctors do, but rather she gave me the choice to decide for myself what is best for me given the information. She was compassionate and thorough. I highly recommend her!

Dr Koh is a very good doctor who has excellent bedside manner. However, I'm giving her low ratings because of the absolutely horrific and unacceptable treatment by the anesthesiologist that she chose to work with.
While I was about to get unconscious which was required for a procedure, this anesthesiologist asked me questions about my medical history. When I wasn't able to answer some of the questions, this anesthesiologist flew off the handle and started to interrupt me, raise his voice and insult my profession. He told me that, as I was a risk manager, I should know better than to come in without knowing all medicine that I have ever taken. All this time, Dr. Koh just stood aside as if she was scared of him. As you can imagine, someone who is about to become unconscious for a medical procedure this is a highly frightening situation. My wife and myself were both horrified and didn't know what to do. It seemed that Dr. Koh kept quiet because this anesthesiologist was more senior than her.
When I became conscious again, turns out that there was blood all over my jeans. I'm not sure if this anesthesiologist did that on purpose or not.
All in all, until Dr. Koh dumps this anesthesiologist, who does not know his bedside manners, I will never go back. I was her patient. She is supposed to stop this mistreatment. Going for a medical procedure doesn't mean that I should have to be shouted at and insulted.
Perhaps, a decade ago, doctors can get away with abusing their patients. Not true any more.

Dr. Koh is great at making you feel comfortable and listening to everything you have to say to help you figure out what might be going on with your body. I had to get a colonoscopy and was EXTREMELY nervous and anxious, but her team made me feel so much better and calmed me down when I really needed it. Would highly recommend seeing Dr. Koh and her team.

Dr. Koh has great bedside manner. She looked me in the eye, she was forthright with any concerns she had and walked me through all the procedures in depth. She asked the anesthesiologist to check on me because she was concerned about putting me under and my throat configuration! It was a relief to have the time with her before my procedure. Office staff was helpful and nice, that's a big plus in my book! The only reason I put probably recommend her is because I haven't had my procedure yet.

Dr. Koh spent more time with me than most doctors would. She is extremely personable and knowledgeable, and you can tell she tries to work out what's wrong with you, even as you are speaking to her. I know that's what doctors are supposed to do but they also have to put together pieces of a puzzle and, in my case, there are pieces missing or too many pieces to make it easy to do. I really liked Dr Koh and would recommend her without hesitation to anyone.

Wow, she is great! As a new patient she sat and learned everything about me taking a full history. Really impressed with her.... The wait time was 20 minutes in the waiting room, but it was right after a snow storm and I'm sure they were catching up, so I'll review that again when I come in for a follow. One of the best docs I've seen...wish she did primary care!

Excellent treatment, smart, thoughtful and a good listener. Highly recommended. Leave ample time for the appointment though - I had to wait for a while to be seen, which wasn't great, and she doesn't rush treatment, which was highly appreciated.
