More about Dr. Juan Ruiz-Unger, MD
R. RUIZ-UNGER after obtaining a Bachelor in Science from the University of Puerto Rico, enrolled at The Autonomous University of Guadalajara where he graduated from Medical School in 1981. His senior medical school year was completed in its entirety at Detroit General Hospital, in Detroit, Michigan. In 1982 he went back to Puerto Rico and completed 10-month intensive rotation program at the University of Puerto Rico Medical School called the Fifth Pathway Program. In 1983 Dr. Ruiz-Unger was accepted at the University of Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital where he completed a three-year program in Pediatrics in 1986.
While still a resident in 1984, he obtained his Florida medical license (ME 45343). In the summer of 1986, Dr. Ruiz-Unger inaugurated his main office at 8900 Coral Way. This office is now 19 years old and is attending second-generation patients. In 1994 he was elected Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and subsequently Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Ruiz-Unger recertified as a diplomate of The American Board of Pediatrics in August 2001.
Dr. Ruiz-Unger is married and has 4 children. He obtained a Masters in Theology in 2002 and is a candidate for a Master in Divinity from Miami International Seminary. He has received multiple awards and recognitions from diverse professional associations.
