Dr. Julie Joy is a Therapeutic Optometrist (O.D.) and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. She has deep rooted ties to the local Mesquite, Texas community. Dr. Joy graduated at the top of her class from North Mesquite High School –three blocks away from our offices on Town East Boulevard.
Dr. Joy received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from the University of St. Thomas, and her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry, Texas’ preeminent optometry program. During her education, she completed several externship rotations in a variety of clinics including: Robert Cizik Eye Clinic at Memorial Hermann Hospital, Good Neighbor Healthcare Center, Bellaire and Katy Eye Consultants, Texas Eye Institute and San Jose Clinic.
Dr. Joy is an active member of her community. She has a long standing commitment to community service, including having held several leadership roles in Christian service organizations and volunteering her time performing eye exams for underprivileged patients.

My mother took my son for me as I was working! I had seen a special online and got appointment same day! First my mother highly approved of place once there, my son said Dr. Joy was "amazing" his words not mine! He a 10 yr old and grandma were very happy with Dr Joy an the young lady helping them picky out a pair of glasses! She was fun, kind, honest and hip treating my little man like a individual not just a kid! My mom, my son and I highly recommend Dr. Joy I will def. go see Dr. Joy for my exam and know my parents say they will too! Professionalism with kindness, courtesy great office team make this a 5 star rating for me and my family!

I was told by her staff I could be seen at 9am on Saturday. When I go there they told me to make a appt for 1:00pm. On the door it clearly states "Walk-ins welcome". There were only 2 people ahead of me I could've have been seen after those people. I ended up coming back at 12:45 (15 minutes before my appt). I didn't get in her chair until 3:00pm. I didn't leave her office to 4:30 because she decided to dilate my eyes after the examination. I've gotten my eyes checked plenty of times and if dilation was needed it's always before the exam. This doctor and staff have no clue of what's going on. I will never go to her again and I wouldn't recommend her to anyone.

I would like to thank her big time. My step dad has epilepsy and he always feels uncomfortable in public because he fears others having to deal with his seizures. She made him feel comfortable enough to laugh. This was a huge thing for him and she made it so easy! So THANK YOU SO MUCH Dr. Joy!!!!!!!

Thorough professional in every way. She conducted parts of an eye exam that I've never experienced before and I've worn prescription glasses for over 35 years. I will highly recommend her to family and friends. By the way the price for the exam is the best value going and can't be beat anywhere.
