But I what I would not recommend is using Zocdoc to book your appointments, call the office on your own to book your own appointment. Zocdoc is a huge annoyance! since I’ve booked this appointment through Zocdoc, I have had numerous text messages and emails all day throughout the day! it’s a huge annoyance when your phone is constantly going off when you are at work all due to the fact that Zocdoc wants you to write a review and they will not leave you alone until you do so…. Note to self, in the future I will call the office to book my next appointment! I will be eliminating Zocdoc and I plan to never use Zocdoc again!!!!!!!!! People do work for a living and I do have busy days and I don’t have all day to be answering back to Zocdoc!!!!!!!! ”

About Dr. Justin Schaefers
Dr. Justin Schaefers, who joined The Eye Center in 2020, was born and raised in South Dakota.
As an undergraduate, he attended the University of South Dakota and studied biology. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences School of Optometry in Worcester, MA. During his training, Dr. Schaefers completed several externships to further his optometric education, including community health centers, veteran’s affairs hospitals and private eye clinics across the country.
Dr. Schaefers is trained in full scope optometry. He is able to perform routine eye care for all ages, including pediatrics. He is experienced in fitting standard and specialty contact lenses. In
addition to routine eye exams, Dr. Schaefers specializes in medical management of glaucoma, diabetes, macular degeneration, dry eye syndrome and surgical co-management of ocular surgeries.
Dr. Schaefers has enjoyed using his optometric experience in giving back to local and international communities. He has provided local vision screenings in churches and for the Special Olympics. Through VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) International, Dr. Schaefers was able to travel to Nicaragua and provide needed eyecare to impoverished communities
Dr. Schaefers is currently a member of the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians and the American Optometric Association.

I love going to The Eye Center and seeing Dr. Schaefers because he takes the time to explain things about my eyes and I don’t feel rushed. He asks questions about my experience with glasses or contacts and takes everything into consideration. Everyone that works in the office is very friendly and helpful when setting up a future appointment.

Receptionist was not very friendly!
Took my co pay and did not even tell me to take a seat before she just moved on to the next patient.
My husband had an even worse experience with the office staff, the receptionist was rude enough so that he will not even go back to that office.
I only go out of convenience.

We love going to this eye doctor. He takes his time answers questions. But at this appointment, the woman at the front desk was rude from the minute I walked in the door. Once I was in my actual eye exam, my daughter was still in the waiting room, and she and another woman proceeded to talk about me while my daughter was sitting right there along with another patient. ?

There was a problem with my insurance, and the staff did not contact me prior to my appointment. They were rude when I walked in the door, expressing the issue with my insurance. Then they proceeded to talk about my mother while she was in the exam room, and I was sitting in the lobby along with another patient.

Great experience with Dr. Schaefers and with his team. Very thorough eye exam and gave my daughter right amount of time to listen to her concerns and addressed them without rushing in. Absolutely 5 star service.

I've gone to Dr. Schaefers for my vision check-ups before. This time I was having irritation in my eye that had been going on for awhile. I felt the person who started my exam off was a little judgmental of my condition and not the friendliest. Dr. Schaefers came in the room and took my history as well. He was very friendly and non-judgmental, explained to me what he believed was going on and what he would do to help, and any more steps we needed to take moving forward. He took his time with me and patiently answered any questions I had.

I've seen Dr. Justin Schaefers, for a few years now and he's fantastic! I hadn't been able to wear contacts for a few years but he changed my lens and recommended antihistamine eye drops, which helped a ton. Saw a bunch of eye docs previously that did not successfully treat my issue
