A college injury during springboard diving left Dr. Karen with a neck and shoulder injury that couldn’t be solved by a number of health practitioners she visited. Athletic trainers, medical doctors, physical therapists, orthopedists and more tried various interventions such as ultrasound or cortisone shots, but nothing helped. She went to a chiropractor who was able to help her recover. In addition to resolving her neck and shoulder pain, the migraines Dr. Karen had experienced since she was a child went away.
She decided to change from studying physical therapy to completing a Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine from Pepperdine University where she worked as a Student Athletic Trainer for the Men’s Basketball and Volleyball teams. Then, she enrolled at Palmer College of Chiropractic West in Northern California. A move to the Midwest led to transferring to National University of Health Sciences in Chicago, where Dr. Karen graduated with honors with her Doctor of Chiropractic.
Over the years, Dr. Karen has worked with a diverse group of people of all ages and types of injury. With great experience, she can intuitively zero in on the source of your health problem and create the most effective treatment plan for you. “We can address problems quickly and thoroughly through the combination of different solutions we have available at our office.”
Dr. Karen has a special focus on caring for athletes of all levels, from children to teens and even professional athletes. She’s helped those participating in all types of sports and was the Official Team Chiropractor for the Indiana Twisters indoor soccer team and the Indianapolis Ice hockey team, as well as working with individual athletes with the Indianapolis Colts and Indy Race Car drivers.
She also treats what she calls “musical athletes” with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. These professionals often suffer from overuse of their extremities.
