Dr. Carcamo earned her medical degree from the University of California at San Francisco and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. She completed her Masters of Public Health at UCLA with an emphasis on agents that cause birth defects and spent three years in private practice before joining the Institute For Women’s Health.
Dr. Carcamo is a Fellow of American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the Texas Medical Association and the Bexar County Medical Association. She is bilingual and is married with three children.

The facility was extremely well maintained and the staff were very nice through the process. However, my appointment was scheduled at 5:10 and I was seen by Dr. Carcamo at around 6:30. I assumed this was a scheduling overload, because Dr. Carcamo spent only about 5 minutes in my room. This was my first pap and I was extremely nervous. I told this to the staff and was hoping there would be a little sensitivity to my nerves. I also wanted to start birth control of some sort and wanted to discuss the options, but basically when I said I was good at taking pills we decided that oral contraceptives were my best option and we did not discuss any of the other options. Overall, the process was quick once I had a moment with the doctor. I did leave feeling confused about the next steps. I was told to pick up my prescription from CVS, but I went to the pharmacy and they had no information about a prescription. Just a little disappointing as a new patient.
