Dr. Chan is a pediatric urologist and health services researcher with dual faculty appointments in the Department of Urology and the Center for Pediatric and Adolescent Comparative Effectiveness Research. She has been an Assistant Professor of Urology at Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) since 2013.
Dr. Chan is a 1999 graduate of Indiana University Bloomington and a 2004 graduate of Saint Louis University School of Medicine. She completed her general surgery training and urology residency at University Hospitals Case Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She completed a three-year pediatric urology fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. During her fellowship she earned a Master of Public Health at Harvard University School of Public Health as part of Harvard’s Pediatric Health Services Research Fellowship.
Dr. Chan has a wide range of clinical interests, including kidney stones, hypospadias, undescended testes, vesicoureteral reflux and congenital urinary tract anomalies such as ectopic ureters and ureteroceles. She is the director of the multi-disciplinary pediatric kidney stone clinic at Riley Hospital for Children. Dr. Chan’s research interests include kidney stone risk factors in adolescents and the development of shared decision aids to improve parental decisions about surgery.
At the IUSM, she is a member of the Faculty Development Coordinating Council and the Women’s Advisory Council. She is a member of the American Urological Association and the Society for Pediatric Urology and she is a reviewer for the Journal of Urology and Journal of Pediatric Urology. In 2016, U.S. News & World Report ranked the Pediatric Urology division at Riley eighth in the nation.
