Tell us what makes you passionate about being a healthcare provider.
I am passionate about forming strong bonds with my patients based on empathy and trust and ensuring they are advocates in their healthcare through shared decision-making regarding treatment plans.
In your opinion, what should be the role of a primary care provider for a patient, taking into account both physical health and behavioral health needs?
The role of a primary care provider should be to screen and assess behavioral and physical health concerns early, integrating the two and acknowledging that they are directly tied. A PCP should treat and educate patients on healthy lifestyles and promote wellness in their everyday life. They should follow up and check in to ensure patients are getting ongoing support, monitor progress, and determine if further specialty care and referrals are necessary. If so, they should collaborate with the necessary specialists.
Tell us a little bit about yourself. What do you like to do in your spare time?
I live in sunny San Diego and have two teenage daughters who play travel softball, which takes up most of our time, but we love it. In my spare time (if I get any away from the kids :)), I enjoy golf, yoga, and vacationing anywhere tropical and warm.

I was a complex case with my issues and she was acting like she was obviously in over her head with me and did not want to help because it was too complicated. She was speaking over me the entire visit and I had to repeat answers to questions because she was not listening to me. To be honest, I think she was out of her depth and did not want the liability for trying to help me. She was of absolute no help whatsoever. I needed a certain type of blood test for my condition and she refused to even have one scheduled because she didn’t want to have the responsibility of treating me. I’m on a few psychiatric medications and I think she was scared or nervous to treat me for the issue I was having because of them which should have not been an issue for a decent, competent, responsible and caring physician. I was in tears towards the end of my visit because I felt like she made me feel like I was a lost cause. She was also condescending and treated me like I was very ignorant. It was horrible
