Katie is originally from northern Minnesota. She earned her master’s degree in Midwifery and Women’s Health from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Following her education, she moved with her husband and four children to Colorado. Katie has worked as a practitioner in both a freestanding birth center and hospital setting.
Prior to becoming a midwife, Katie wore many hats as a registered nurse, working in home care, medical-surgical, labor, delivery and postpartum units, and as a childbirth educator. During this time, she noticed a shift in the way that she cared for people, focusing more on being with them, and helping to ensure their labor and birth experiences were what they desired. Having four children of her own, Katie understands the strong connection between birth empowerment and postpartum mental health.

Katie is passionate about bringing awareness to the importance of maternal mental health. During her downtime, Katie enjoys baking, reading, biking, and hiking with her family.
