Dr. Dennis grew up in Leitchfield, KY and is a proud alumnus of the University of Kentucky where he received a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry. He received his Doctorate of Optometry from Indiana University in 2000 graduating with highest honors, summa cum laude.
Dr. Dennis spent time in Central Texas during his internships at the Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, TX and fell in love with the area ever since. He moved to the Austin area in 2003 after his wife, Christy, was accepted into Pharmacy School at the University of Texas.
He and Christy have two wonderful children; Ava and Cole, and they now reside in Round Rock. Dr. Dennis and his staff emphasize quality and friendly customer service. I'm sure if you are coming to this office visit for a routine check your visit might be tolerable...might. I made and appointment for and emergency eye visit. As soon as I walked in the door I was told that they could not verify my VSP insurance plan. Okay, fair enough, I thought they'll just have to call it in to verify. Instead they told me I was not active and would have to pay out of pocket. I had to see the doctor and agreed knowing that my insurance was fine. I was then told my visit would not be vision it would be medical and they needed my insurance card. I made the simple mistake of handing them the wrong insurance card and the nightmare began there. I realized my mistake and handed over the correct insurance card and headed into my appointment. The doctor was nice enough although not talkative. I received my Rx and headed to the front to check out. I was then told they couldn't verify my insurance (surprise surprise) and that they were waiting on a fax. They suggested that I "just pay out of pocket and send my bill in." "Uhmmm....No thank you that's your job." I thought to myself, then told them I would wait for the fax to come in. Ten minutes later they come back out and suggest that I call the insurance company myself since they couldn't get in touch with anyone. Thirty seconds and one ring later I have my insurance company on the phone willing to confirm my insurance with them. I was willing to look all over and continue with my follow up appointment until I received my 4th appointment reminder call and 5th email from this office in 48 hours. The final straw was the call to me today stating that they could not verify my insurance for my appointment this Thursday. So if you do not have insurance and are going in for a simple appointment with nothing out of the usual this is the office for you. My suggestion to Dr. Dennis would be find an office staff that can count to ten without having to use their fingers for help.
