Dr. Kenetra Hix is a Board Certified Family Medicine Doctor with 8 years of experience in the medical field.
Dr. Hix completed her undergraduate studies at Tennessee State University in Nashville, receiving her Bachelor of Science in 2004. In 2009 she obtained her Masters of Public Health from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Right after that, she attended the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, receiving her Doctor of Medicine degree in 2014.
Dr. Hix completed her Family Medicine Residency Training Program at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, in 2018. During her studies, Kenetra received many awards, certificates, internships and scholarships, such as: Robert Graham Scholars Program, Health Policy Certificate, Serving the Underserved Certificate, Arnold P. Gold Humanism Honor Society, National Health Service Corp Scholarship, June D. Gorski Scholarship, etc.
Dr. Hix started her professional career as a Research Assistant, progressed as a Nursing Aide, and later became a Staff Physician and Primary Care Physician. She has also conducted global medical missions in Malawi, Nigeria, Nicaragua, El Salvador.
Dr. Hix’s objective is to advance effective relationships between primary care and public health. Her areas of interest include Primary Care, Preventive Medicine, and Behavioral health.

Terrible service. found a lump in my stomach, did NOT follow up with me for my test results and when I called back to get results they said their next opening was in a month. finally got a virtual appointment and Dr. Hix was annoyed i had booked an appointment even though she had found a hernia in my stomach. She then referred me to a doctor who had passed away. Never follow-up with me again. I don't write reviews but this was terrible.

I was still sick and in between primary care physician (PCP). So, as a follow-up appointment, I picked and scheduled an appointment with a PCP instead of returning to see the urgent care doctor that helped me initially. That's how I found Dr. Hix. She was just what I needed. I like to feel as though my doctor and I are a team. We listen to each other, discuss options and agree on the best action plan.
Dr. Hix took the time to find out my immediate needs; It turned out that although my flu symptoms were under control, I had a sinus infection too. Then she explained the options, and together we picked what to do about it. I left her office feeling heard and supported. And the additional medication was right on point, so I feel much better.
Compassion, relatable, and knowledge that's the kind of care I want from a primary care physician. Thanks, Dr. Hix.

This Doctor knows what they are doing. She asks specific questions and listens with patience, she explains everything in detail and breaks it down for you to understand. I will be making her my primary Care Doctor if it’s possible.

Dr. Hix is the most pleasant and interesting primary care physician I have ever seen, period. She listens and understands. She explains her treatment plan without being judgemental. We had a serious conversation about health care, recommended procedures, pros and cons. While she is quite personable, she is also direct. I respect her tremendously for telling me, "You don't have to do what I say. All I ask is that you don't come back to me with the same problem if you don't do what I say." This is so refreshing, compared to doctors who either stop talking to you or try to lecture you when you disagree with them! There is one drawback, though: she is in the Bethesda office only 2 days a week. It's O.K. for physicals but not so convenient for sick visits.

I loooove her! She listened and asked very pertinent questions. A lot has changed for me since Covid and she was extremely patient and understanding. I love that she wanted to get my medical history and blood work and is scheduling a follow up appointment to discuss everything and then do my physical. I never had a doctor do that and in that moment it made so much sense. I will never expect anything less if I ever need to find a new doctor. She set the bar pretty high!
