Kristin Kassaw, M.D., is the assistant dean of student affairs and a clinical associate professor for the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine. Kassaw contributes to the educational programs in behavioral health and psychiatry in the curriculum. She is also a psychiatrist who practices at the UH Health Family Care Center at the University of Houston.
She was a Baylor College of Medicine faculty member for 15 years following her graduation from residency in June 2019. During that time, Kassaw served as director of medical student education, overseeing both the pre-clinical behavioral science course and the psychiatry clerkship. She also served as associate director and director of the Baylor Psychiatry Clinic. After her time at Baylor, Kassaw had a private practice in Sugar Land, Texas prior to joining the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine.
At the College of Medicine, she began her tenure by serving as a co-director for the Behavioral Medicine course, a learning community mentor, and a psychiatry clerkship director. In November 2022, she transitioned to the role of assistant dean for student affairs.
Dr. Kassaw received her undergraduate education at Baylor University in Waco, TX. There she graduated summa cum laude while studying biology and Latin. She attended Baylor College of Medicine and received her M.D. with honors and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her residency in psychiatry with Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals residency training and was appointed chief resident; she received the outstanding resident award in her graduating class.
Kassaw is grateful to the educators and mentors throughout her career and seeks to nurture and develop the next generation of physicians in their honor.
