Dr. Peterson-Salgado was great. She performed a more comprehensive exam than many doctors I've visited (many over the last twenty years). She explained reasons for certain challenges and made suggestions to help improve my eye comfort (and vision). In addition to offering appointments late in the day, she sticks around and gives helpful feedback on the chore of picking on glasses...making it a lot more pleasant. I feel really confident about the doctors evaluation and look forward to coming back!

Dr. Kristin Peterson-Salgado graduated with a B.S. in Zoology from the University of California, Davis in 1993 with high honors. She decided her passion was to help people in an individual healthcare field. She attended the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry and graduated in 1997. Dr. Peterson-Salgado immediately secured a position with a prominent San Diego ophthalmologist. For 13 years, she practiced medically-based optometry with a focus on ocular disease, geriatrics, traditional and hard-to-fit contact lenses, diabetic exams, and LASIK or cataract surgery pre-operative exams. Dr. Peterson-Salgado opened her private practice in 2010 with a desire to continue her medically based practice while also incorporating vision exams for the entire family. Dr. Peterson-Salgado enjoys fitting all types of contact lenses, including bifocal, monovision, rigid gas permeable, and astigmatic lenses. She also has an extensive background in the treatment of dry eye conditions. She is board certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease and can prescribe medications for eye infections, allergies, and dry eyes. She enjoys spending time with her family, jogging, camping, playing sports, visiting family and friends, and going to the beach. Dr. Peterson- Salgado grew up in Del Mar and currently lives in Solana Beach with her husband (4th generation Solana Beach resident) and their 2 kids.

My family has been coming to see Dr. Peterson-Salgado for the past three years and we are thrilled with her care and expertise. The only other optometrist I have ever seen was my own father, so finding someone I could equally trust, respect, and feel great about bringing my children to was a tough act to follow.
