She then attended the University of Arizona where she earned a Master of Science in Medical Pharmacology with an emphasis in Extracorporeal Circulation. She worked as a certified clinical perfusionist for several years before starting medical school, which led to her interest in wound healing, vascular disorders, platelet gel, and scars. Her other professional interests include adult and pediatric medical dermatology, skin cancer prevention and treatment, and cosmetic dermatology.
Dr. Buford is active in various medical organizations including the American Academy of Dermatology, the Texas Medical Association, and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. She has been involved in basic science and clinical research throughout her education and clinical training. She has authored scientific publications and has presented at a variety of society meetings at both the state and national level. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering in community outreach projects and local philanthropies.
