More about Dr. Lawrence McKean, MD
Dr. Lawrence McKean graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed his residency training in Pediatrics and his fellowship training in Allergy and Immunology at Emory University in Atlanta. He then joined the faculty at Emory University as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and served as the co-director of the Emory University Cystic Fibrosis Center. He has done research and published papers and book chapters on cystic fibrosis (CF), CF-related diabetes, and mechanisms of allergic reactions. In 1993, he left the faculty at Emory University to establish the Asthma & Allergy Clinic for Children, PC in Athens, GA. In 2002, he was asked to return to the Department of Pediatrics and the Emory University Cystic Fibrosis Center, where he treated both children and adults with CF and participated in studies involving treatment of infections that occur in CF patients. In addition to specializing in the treatment of patients with Cystic Fibrosis, Dr. McKean specializes in the evaluation and treatment of recurrent infections in young children and the evaluation and treatment of asthma and allergic diseases.

This was my second visit to this office. When I went to check in, I was informed that established patients cannot book follow up appointments on zocdoc. I wasn't aware of this after my first visit, and was coming to the office for a completely different reason. Basically I was turned away and told I could call to rebook my appointment. My appointment had been confirmed through ZocDoc, so I can't understand how there wasn't time for the doctor to see me or why no one called me to explain this policy. I left very disappointed and will look into finding a new office with clearer policies and better customer service.
