Lee Eric Tessler, M.D., F.A.A.N.S., F.A.C.S. is a Neurosurgeon who specializes in the treatment of primary brain tumors, metastatic tumors, meningiomas, stereotactic surgery, and radiosurgery. Dr. Tessler serves as the Executive Director and Co-Surgical Director of the Long Island Brain Tumor Center. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Tessler grew up in Syosset, Long Island, the oldest of three brothers. He received his undergraduate degree cum laude from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and completed Post-Baccalaureate studies at University of California, Los Angeles, California. He obtained his medical degree at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health, Columbus, Ohio. At the Department of Neurological Surgery, New York University Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital Center in New York, New York, Dr. Tessler served as Intern, progressed to Resident, and then became Chief Resident. Previously, Dr. Tessler worked at the University of Florida’s Center for Neurobiological Sciences. He obtained certification in both Gamma Knife and Cyber Knife Radiosurgery. Dr. Tessler is the Executive Director of the Long Island Brain Tumor Center and a partner at Neurological Surgery, PC. In 2008, Dr. Tessler was appointed as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at NYU Medical Center. He is currently the Chief of Neurotrauma and the Chairman of the Neurosurgery Quality Improvement Committee at Winthrop University Hospital. Most recently, Dr. Tessler was elected as Treasurer of the Medical Staff for Mercy Medical Center and serves as Secretary of the Nassau County Medical Society. Dr. Tessler has written about Advanced MRI for Brain Tumors, The Progression to Surgery after Gamma Knife Radiosurgery of Cerebral Melanoma Metastases, and Anterior Spinal Meningiomas. He has published comments on articles about robotic neurosurgery and intracranial surgery with three-dimensional ultrasound. Dr. Tessler serves as the New York Delegate to the Council of State Neurosurgical Societies. He is a Police Surgeon with the Nassau County Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police. Dr. Tessler is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the New York Neurosurgical Society, and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, as well as the AANS/CNS Joint Section on Tumors.
