Lee M. Wong, O.D. graduated magna cum laude from Seton Hall University in 1997. She attended Salus University, Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where she received her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2001. She has been in private practice with Dr. Joseph DeLuca, M.D. since 2001. Her extensive training includes performing comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases, specializing in fitting soft (spherical, toric, and multifocal) and rigid gas permeable (post-surgical and keratoconus) contact lenses, and co-management of cataract and refractive surgeries (LASIK and PRK). Dr. Wong is committed to providing the highest quality of care to her patients. She has been a member of the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians for over 10 years. Currently, she resides in Essex County with her husband and two children.

I arrived and because I booked on Zocdoc, the office told me they had no record of my appointment so PLEASE CALL ONCE YOU BOOK ON HERE. Luckily, the staff was super accommodating and did take my insurance so I was able to be squeezed in and seen right away. The staff was super friendly, super helpful, and super knowledgeable - answering all of my questions. Dr. Wong answered all of my questions and gave me great insight. They followed up with me with my test updates and I will continue to go there!

I made an appointment using ZocDoc for 11:00 am. At 10:50, as I was pulling into the parking lot I receive a call letting me know their system did not "read" my appointment and that they actually don't have availability. After some back and forth they said a cancellation just came in for 1:45 and to return at 1:30 pm to complete new patient forms. I returned at 1:30 pm and called the office to inform them (Covid protocols). They did not take me in until about 2:10 pm where I then completed new patient forms and waited in the waiting room for another 20-minutes. From there I was taken into the first room (of maybe 5 or 6) and met with Dr. Wong. She took initial health information and was lovely. We then moved into a different room where she completed a standard eye exam, then I was taken by someone else to a different room for another machine, then back to a different room than the second one I was in, then someone else came in and ushered me to another room for a different machine, then to a third patient room (different than the first two they had me in), explaining that they needed the room I'm in for a different patient. After waiting for another 10-minutes or so (at this point it's nearly 3:00 pm) a different doctor (not Dr. Wong) comes in to go over my results and goes on a tangent for nearly 15-minutes about things unrelated to my healthcare or treatment. Despite my attempt at trying to leave, the doctor kept going. I then asked if I can leave and speak with someone who can order new lenses for my glasses and I went to another department. That woman was also lovely but the whole process was taking too long (she had to check my insurance which she informed me was not accepted, even though front desk had told me it was when I walked in). After back and forth and calling insurance, it's now almost 4:00 pm and I let them know I need to leave because I've now been here 2.5 hours.
Overall, the staff is really sweet and doctors seem to know what they're talking about but unless you have a whole day to spend for an eye exam, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.
To drive this home, there were two elderly male patients waiting in the waiting area when I walked in. A few minutes later, they called one in and his response was "he went home 'cuz he got so sick of waitin' on ya" and when they called the second gentleman in a few minutes later his response was, "Arthur died sitting here waiting to be seen. His eye exam is no longer relevant". So, you may get some enjoyment out of it but not if you're tight on time!

The office had an issue with Zocdoc and their system. Apparently, the appointments booked with Zocdoc weren’t syncing properly with their system. I called a day before my appointment to confirm my insurance and my appointment was not showing in their system. I was told that I would receive a call back in a few minutes, to see if I can be seen the next day. After three hours I called back and the receptionist was very short with me, I’m assuming the Zocdoc issue was frustrating.... Nevertheless after my third call back I was able to be seen the next day. The appointment wait time and doctor was great though!

Her staff was nice but a little much with the extra precaution. If you don’t drive wouldn’t recommend right now had to wait outside for 30 minutes even tho i was on time for my appointment then extra 30 in the office. Actually visit with the Doctor and techs were nice. She was really nice and very good also gave good information and explained step by step
