More about Dr. Leslie Bermingham, PhD

I believe that a strong relationship between patient and therapist is the foundational ingredient to a successful therapy. Together, we will explore your unique identity, experiences, and inner life, allowing you to better understand yourself and your behaviors. As we work together, some of the issues that you encounter in your other relationships may emerge between us; we will use this data to understand and improve how you relate to yourself and to other people. Engaging in psychotherapy with a new provider or for the first time requires courage, but this process can be a very worthwhile step toward reducing your distress and living a more meaningful life. Before scheduling an appointment, please be aware that I am not in-network with insurance providers. Although my patients pay out-of-pocket, those with out-of-network coverage for mental health treatment are reimbursed a portion of the fee by their insurance provider. Check with your insurance provider to clarify your annual deductible and what percentage of the fee they will cover once that deductible is met. I offer video appointments (for all) as well as in-person appointments (for those who are fully vaccinated). My services include psychotherapy for individual adults, adolescents, and couples. I hold a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and have experience working with individuals and couples of diverse backgrounds, including those coping with trauma, relationship and attachment difficulties, mood issues, anxiety, and severe mental illness. I currently hold a limited permit to practice psychology and am supervised by Alexandra Electris, Ph.D., L-CAT, Director of Thalassa Psychological Services. Dr. Electris will join us during your intake and will play a role in managing your care and helping me to best support you. I hope to meet with you soon to get started.
