Dr. Leslie Gruss is a founding partner of Downtown Women OB/GYN and has been practicing gynecology here since 1990. She specializes in the management of abnormal pap smears, testing for the human papilloma virus (HPV), and performs many of the practice’s colposcopies and Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedures (LEEP). She is also interested in the non-surgical management of fibroid tumors and uterine bleeding.
Dr. Gruss received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania in 1979 and her MD from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1983. She completed her OB/GYN residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in 1987 and was Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1989.

I hesitate to give such a negative review but this doctor had the worst bedside manner I ever experienced, barely knew I was there, and did a very quick and dismissive check up.

My neighbor recommended Dr. Gruss to me. I am so glad that she did. She is easy to speak to and very knowledgeable. I spent a year at my former doctor struggling to find a new birth control after mine was discontinued and Dr. Gruss solved the issue on the first try. She is soft spoken, buy very friendly, and doesn't make you feel awkward inquiring about sensitive topics. The office staff is also very nice and I have never had to wait longer than a minute or two after my appointment time. Please be extra careful booking through Zocdoc though, sometimes it will look like you made and apt with Dr.Gruss, but in the confirmation page it sometimes shows one of the nurse practitioners will be seeing you when she is booked, so pay close attention to fine print when you confirm. So relieved to find a great gynecologist in NYC!!!!

This was my first time at Downtown Women OB/GYN Associates and first appointment with Dr. Gruss. My experience was very favorable -- Dr. Gruss is extremely pleasant and thorough. I had completed the patient forms via ZocDoc the night before, and only had to supplement with some additional information upon my arrival. I was seen by Dr. Gruss within a few minutes of my arrival. Receptionist and assistants were super nice and efficient. Offices and reception areas spacious, neat and clean.

The staff at Downtown Women's are always very friendly and helpful. You are always seen right away and the appointments are quick (however, if you have questions, they will always take the time to answer them). I highly recommend this practice and Dr. Gruss.
