I'm Leslie Hanagan, the owner of Optima Therapies, and I work with private clients and school districts to meet their speech, language, and literacy needs.
I am nationally certified with a Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech and Hearing Association and licensed in several states.
I have over 20 years of experience working with school districts in the areas of classroom teaching, literacy intervention, and speech-language pathology. I attended California State University in Sacramento, CA, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies, a Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential, and a Cross-Cultural Language and Academic Development Credential for grades K - 12. I have worked as a classroom teacher and as a provider of gifted education classes, and I have worked as a reading interventionist, a mentor teacher, and a professional development trainer. I received training in various multi-sensory literacy models, including the Orton-Gillingham Approach (Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators), and I deliver specialized intervention for the treatment of speech, language, and literacy.
In addition to my teaching experience, I am a graduate of the University of the Pacific with a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology. As a speech-language pathologist, I have worked in public school systems, private practice, early intervention programs, and telepractice. My experience also includes that of Clinical Lead where I provided support for fellow SLPs and mentored SLP for graduate students.
In my spare time, I enjoy art, reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends
