Dr. Li Fan is a dedicated and diligent OB-GYN serving the communities of San Diego, CA. Dr, Fan attended Southeast University Medical College, where she received her medical degree. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Illinois, and her fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Cornell University. She also completed her PhD in physiology at McGill University.
Dr. Fan is a part of Gateway Women’s Health. She is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the San Diego County Membership Society. Her areas of special interest include low and high risk pregnancy, annual health check, abnormal uterine bleeding, contraception, adolescent and pediatric gynecology, gynecologic cancer screening, uterovaginal prolapse and weight management through lifestyle changes. Dr. Fan accepts most PPO and some HMO insurances such as Sharp Community Medical Group.
Dr. Fan speaks English and Mandarin Chinese fluently which makes her widely accessible to patients from a variety of cultural backgrounds. She has been recognized for her achievements by Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Chicago, the Berlex Foundation, and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.

The exam room had carpet, the equipment was so old it was yellowed from age. I was experiencing hormone imbalance from a birth control I was on which had led to several months of extreme anxiety/paranoia, depression, etc. Dr. Fan's actual response (while waving her hand dismissively): "Yeah, yeah, yeah, girls your age experience stuff like that. What do you want me to do?"
I asked that she remove the implanted birth control, which she did - after I refused to watch her cut my arm open, she waved the bloody piece of plastic in my face while berating me for being too sensitive.
I can't believe this person is allowed to practice any form of medicine. Stay away.

My visit to Dr. Fan was a relief. I am always a little nervous when meeting a new doctor; however, meeting Dr. Fan was a pleasure. She clarified my reason for the visit and asked questions about my medical history. During the interview, Dr. Fan was professional, friendly and informative.
The office was comfortable, clean and professional. It is in a convenient location and there is plenty of parking. The office staff was friendly and easy to communicate with regarding the next appointment. I will definitely see Dr. Fan in the future.
