Dr. James, a cum laude graduate and Chemistry major of Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, where he participated in intercollegiate football, obtained his Medical Doctorate from The University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 2007. He was elected into Alpha Omega Alpha and Phi Kappa Phi Medical/Honor Societies for ranking in the top percentile of his medical school class. Dr. James then completed his surgical internship and Orthopedic residency in Kentucky. During his time there, he served as Chief Resident for The University of Kentucky Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine.
Dr. James is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Medical Association. His professional society memberships include the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
Previously, Dr. James supplied team coverage to Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School and Tates Creek High School while in Kentucky, as well as to athletes of The University of Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky University, Transylvania University and Georgetown College. He also assisted Manzano High School and El Dorado High School in New Mexico, provided team coverage for the Albuquerque Isotopes, AAA affiliate of MLB’s Los Angeles Dodgers, and cared for athletes of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He has provided his medical expertise in all types of sports, including football, soccer, baseball and equestrian games.
