DNP Diaz first became interested in hormone health and anti-aging while practicing as MD trained in internal medicine. After suffering for years with symptoms like weight gain, fatigue, and irritability that were compromising her career and relationships, she worked with a hormone expert to get her hormones back in balance.
I was only 16 years old when I started my career in the medical field back in Cuba. A few years later, I became a Family Physician. Due to the lack of supplies and working conditions, I was forced to put behind Conventional Medicine and start practicing Functional and Integrative Medicine to help my patients, many of whom had hormonal imbalances for which Conventional Medicine did not have an answer.
In later years, my passion for helping others took me to Ruanda, Africa, where I assisted thousands of impoverished families as a Missionary Physician. No words describe how different Medicine is practiced in this African country. This 2-year mission left both sad and beautiful marks on my heart, and it is something I would like to repeat at some point in my life.
I immigrated to the USA in 2009. The communist Cuban Government declined to release my school transcripts, and I was forced to start my medical career all over again. Facing challenges such as a new language, I transited from a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to a Registered Nurse (RN) to a Nurse Practitioner (NP). Finally, I got my Doctor's Degree in Nursing Practice (DNP) from Capella University. I am double board Certified with ANCC and AANP boards. It has been a long road with over 22 years of combined experience in the medical field, including seven years as a Physician in Cuba, two years as a Missionary Doctor in Africa, and over three years as a Nurse Practitioner in the US.
My passion in Medicine has always been to explore the human body and find the real cause of the problem, the root cause, and not just treat the symptoms.
