When patients need compassionate and thorough Psychiatric care in a comfortable environment, they come to Dr. Manfred Obi, MD. While his main specialty is Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry, he also completed a Residency in Internal Medicine in his native Africa and has worked in all facets of medicine over the course of his illustrious international medical career.
Dr. Obi began his medical education at the University of Nigeria, in Nsukka, Nigeria, in 1972 in Pre-Medical studies and went on to first earn his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and later, his Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) in 1978 from the University of Nigeria’s, College of Medicine. He went on to complete an Internship in Internal Medicine at West African College of Physicians, a Residency in Psychiatry at the University of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey Medical School and a Fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
A true international citizen, Dr. Obi held the distinguished position of Chief Medical Officer in both an Emergency and Psychiatric setting at Abia State University Teaching Hospital in Aba Nigeria. He also believes strongly in teaching other people in his field, and so he also served as teaching attending at Abia State University during this time. Dr. Obi has counseled patients in the areas of Mental Health, as well as Drug and Alcohol Dependency, being a Board-Certified Psychiatrist and Certified Drug Counselor.
Dr. Obi's extensive medical training makes him a very unique Psychiatrist, in that it enables him to utilize and incorporate various treatment methods, medications and other bio-medical treatments to treat patients.
