Dr. Mantu Gupta is Professor of Urology, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Chair of Urology at Mount Sinai Roosevelt and Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospitals, and Director of Endourology and Stone Disease for the Mount Sinai Health System. ??Dr. Gupta is recognized as a world leader in the research and treatment of urinary stone disease, ureteropelvic junction obstruction, urinary tract obstruction, and upper tract urothelial malignancies, having pioneered many of the techniques in current use. He is recognized as one of the leading endoscopic, percutaneous, and minimally invasive surgeons in the world, having performed over 10,000 major endourological procedures. Dr. Gupta is unique in that he employs a nurturing, compassionate, and holistic approach to the management of stone disease, utilizing alternative medical, nutritional and preventive strategies.
Prior to joining Mount Sinai, Dr. Gupta served as Associate Professor, Director of Endourology and Director of the Kidney Stone Center at Columbia University Medical Center for the last 18 years. The recipient of numerous honors and awards, Dr. Gupta was given a Presidential Gold Medal by President Ronald Reagan for his academic achievements and has served as a visiting professor both within the United States and throughout the world. He is a frequent lecturer and moderator at national and international meetings and has published extensively in major peer-reviewed journals and authored numerous book chapters. Additionally, Dr. Gupta teaches various surgical skills courses throughout the world and has served as editor and guest editor for numerous publications including the Journal of Endourology, the Journal of Urology, the Indian Journal of Urology, and Urology. Dr Gupta does not accept Blue Cross PPO so just a heads up for anyone else, since it says that he does on Zocdoc.

He's a great caring doctor. Some of his office staff is very good. Some not but it's the doctor that's important.

My referral letter was never sent over. After one hour I retrieved it and was checked in at 12:30, an hour later than my actual appointment time.

I was charged my insurance’s co-pay and was never informed that the doctor was out of network for my insurance and would therefore not be covered. The wait was well over 45 minutes. When I was finally called into the exam room, the doctor spent less than a minute (literally less than a minute) with me and the rest of the consultation was handled by a nurse practitioner. Highly unprofessional doctor and misleading billing staff.

They were very prompt and my insurance wasn't accepted but they still made sure they worked it out so that I don't have to pay a hefty amount. Doctor was very clear and gave me time and understood my problem of kidney stones. They even did an X-ray and ultrasound right away.

Have to do a follow up visit he did a test that I was asking other doctors for without even having to ask. Jury is still out hopefully I get cured with him. He seems informative and explained things well using diagrams.

The first visit to Dr. Gupta's office was fine. His administrative staff is a mess and does his practice a disservice. I got a diagnosis (which I had to chase his office for), and got on antibiotics. At my follow-up appointment a month later I had to wait for two hours to see him, all for him to tell me that his office's initial diagnosis may have been incorrect. His associate physician seemed confused by my symptoms, so much so that it seemed at times he was looking to me to help diagnose my problem.
I'm looking for a new urologist.

Dr. Gupta and his staff represent the best the medical profession has to offer and I highly recommend him to any and all patients who require consultation with a urologist. He and his staff are courteous, warm, patient and available to answer any questions and address all issues. He sets the standard for care in the field of urology and I emerged reassured and clear as to my diagnosis and next steps.

In reception I was told the doctor didn't work with my insurance plan... I sent to them all my information in advance and verified in Zocdoc the doctor acepted my plan. They should have warned me about this me before and they should update insurance plans details in the doctor's profile in Zocdoc.

I had a 330 appointment. Showed up early to fill out paper work. Was not taken from waiting room till 1 hour later. Then after taking my blood pressure had to wait another 30 minutes before seeing a PA. then another 20 minutes before Doctor. Did not like that was about 1 hour 45 minutes after my appointment when I saw the doctor.

After going into the office from the waiting room, I waited one hour for the Doctor. The PA did come in to go over my history.
I went home with two prescriptions, thinking I was only getting one. Had to ask my pharmacist what the other one was for. There was also a problem scheduling the follow up appointment because the doctor was going on vacation.

Everyone was very professional and polite. I arrived early and they accommodated my earliness. They also allowed my husband and sister in for the appointment. We traveled from upstate NY and they did not have to allow my family in for the appointment. The Fellow and Dr Gupta also answers and explained everything we had questions about. Additionally The waiting room was lovely with comfortable chairs and complimentary coffee. I was recommended by a family member who knew him from NY Presbyterian Hospital. I would highly recommend him and his staff anytime to anyone. I got an appointment within a week as well!
