Dr. Chavez attended The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
He graduated in 2006 and pursued Psychiatry. He entered residency with The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston because of the vast variety of experiences that the program offers. In his four years of residency he gained experience in everything from psychoanalysis to DBT and psychopharmacology. He had the honor of working with some of the best hospitals in Houston, including Memorial Hermann Hospital, Methodist Hospital, and practiced outpatient medication management at the same time. He excelled in everything he did and was honored to be the Chief Resident for the program in 2010. During that time, he was in charge of a large number of residents at MD Anderson, a world recognized cancer hospital. He also was in charge of the staff and residents at Harris County Psychiatric Hospital, a free standing psychiatric hospital with over 200 beds. Due to his hard work with patient care, he was awarded the American Psychiatric Association Minority Fellowship for his achievements. Through that fellowship he as able to work with both addiction specialist to train on the treatment and management of this illness. Finally, he also worked with the FBI on terrorism profiling thanks to the APA Fellowship. Dr. Chavez has training in a very wide variety of specialties. He has been in San Diego for 6 years, and in 2015 he was awarded the top 3rd Psychiatrist in San Diego County.

Very easy to talk to. Love his style. Felt extremely comfortable opening up to him and being honest. Initially when I was looking for someone to help me I was set on finding a female who could relate to my PPD. Im so happy I let my guard down and called him. Have already recommended him to some other women from m y mom's group
