Yes, there is a wait time, but when you are a professional in demand, that's not uncommon. He's in demand for a reason. Honestly, I'd be willing to sit in a waiting room for several hours a month if it mean that the balance of that month would be more fulfilling, more normal, and pain free. It's a small investment of time for a life handed back to a patient who has been suffering with chronic, unrelenting pain.
Dr. Pappagallo is more than an excellent physician; he is an empathetic, approachable human being. He is sincerely invested in the health and lives of his patients. He is a wonderful man, and if you happen to take a turn for the worst, he is on his feet immediately. He is worthy of your trust. I am so thankful that our paths crossed. He literally changed the course of my life.

Marco Pappagallo, MD completed his medical school and a post-graduate training in neurosurgery at the University of Rome, Italy. In an effort to further his medical training, he moved to USA where he completed his residency in Neurology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. After completing his clinical and research pain fellowship, he became Medical Director of Chronic Pain at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. Subsequently he moved to NYC, first at the Hospital of Joint Diseases- NYU as Director of the Comprehensive Pain Center and then in the Department of Pain at Beth Israel Medical Center, as Director of Chronic Pain. From 2006 till 2011 he was Professor and Director of Pain Research, Department of Anesthesiology, Mount Sinai Medical Center, NYC, NY.
He has received multiple awards,such as: Physician of the Year Award, from the Bikur Cholim Mazkereth Frima D'Munkakacs; Most Compassionate Doctor Recognition Award; Patients' Choice Award;
and yearly since 2003, he has been recognized as one of the Best Doctors in America® In 2014, he was named Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY.He has been the recipient of a host of NIH and industry grants. He currently holds four patents for novel approaches to chronic pain. He has edited and authored four textbooks and more than 100 publications. Dr. Pappagallo has lectured extensively nationally and internationally and he is considered one of the foremost medical experts in the field of pain medicine.

Dr. Pappagallo is in my opinion the world's most renowned "Pain Specialist" and I am ecstatic that he is my Doctor, I value him as a great doctor with a huge heart and extremely compassionate, he listens to everything, never discounts anything and cares very much for his patients. He is involved with research and academia, he didn't pursue more a lucrative practice (although he surely qualified) of doing costly procedures (i.e. injections) which would have enriched him monetarily but rather he continues to be involved in research and teaching other MDs about Pain.
Truly one of a kind, a great man and consummate professional all in one.

Made appointment on ZocDoc. We did a FaceTime consult, as I was out of town, and the Hurricane made travel extremely dangerous. Dr. Pappagallo is thorough, precise, creative and caring. His academic and clinical expertise are remarkable. He also listened to some questions about my wife's recent malady, and gave us excellent direction which has led to her pursuing a new line of investigation with her doctors, and he did not charge us a cent. An excellent doctor, a caring physician and reasonably priced even though he is out-of-network. This is a "Best Doctor" you don't have to wait three months to see, or mortgage your house to pay!!

He is the best pain management doctor around! If you want the best,pls see Dr.Marco Papagallo,he will talk you and care for you and give you advice on any concern you have! He really cares about his patients,that's why I follow him where ever he goes! I was injured in 1997 and it took me 2yrs to find the perfect pain management doctor!
I 've seen 4 pain management before an Anesthesiologist doctor at the Hospital for Joint Disease told me about Dr.Marco Papagallo and as soon as I met him and his nurse Aaron I knew I met the perfect doctor for life!
With his help I met the surgeon who got me out of my scooter and walking again after not walking for 11yrs!
I was told by 2 other pain management doctors, I would never walk again !
Well after 5 back operations and the right pain medicine I am a walking MIRACLE for the medical doctors!
My doctor's have video tapes of me standing,walking ,bending over and dancing in his office! When people in the hospital on the rehab floor or the 8th floor where I spent 8 mths with awesome nurses!
They didn't think I was going to survive my operations, because I had gotten an infection in my wound!
Thank god I have an AWESOME Neuro surgeon and pain management doctor! They discovered the problem and I pulled threw!
Some serious things were popping up and Dr.Papagallo, brought that concern to my surgeon and with the two of them working together I have been walking around with the help of my pain medication!
I only use my scooter if I am going to an amusement park which I did for the 1st time in 18yrs!
I even went on some rides at Hershey Park and that would have never been possible if I didn't have the right pain medication!
I did something I never in a million yrs,thought I would ever be able to do and it's all ,because I have the perfect doctor in my life!
I hope my experience with my doctor will help anyone who is looking for a pain management doctor!
My advice to you look no further and be honest with your doctor, that's the only way he can help you! God bless!

Dr. Pappagallo is a kind, compassionate doctor, who stays at the cutting edge of medical research and alternative therapies. He is extremely thorough and thoughtful, and always takes as much time as necessary to be certain he has not missed anything, or left any possibility unexplored. Not only has he helped me deal with my pain, he noticed a thyroid deficiency, later confirmed and under treatment by an endocrinologist, that my physician did not, as well as a vitamin D deficiency and potential other hormonal issues from his careful review of bloodwork. Outstanding.

I have been Dr. Pappagallo's patient for 15 years! He was the first and only doctor to break my lifelong intractable migraine condition...within months, for the first time, I was leading a normal, active life! Dr. Pappagallo literally gave my life back to me! He also saved my life, during health crises when other doctors were totally stumped as to what was wrong and what to do. If not for Dr. Pappagallo, I probably would not be here now. He is extremely knowledgeable and so very caring. Dr. Pappagallo never gives up on a patient!

I have been with Dr. Pappagallo in NYC for the past 10 yrs, he is an excellent doctor. When I first met him, I wasn't living a normal life, due to my severe pain with Fibro. He gave me the best checkup I have ever had in my LIfe, and after testing, blood, urine, etc. he was able to recommend medications and vitamins for me, to give me some kind of normalcy in my life again. I am so thankful that I found the Doctor's name in a magazine article about Fibro, it was the best day of my Life.
The long wait was because it was the first day of the doctor's seeing new patients at Overlook Hospital, and the first day of work at Overlook, so things were a bit confused in the office.
