More about Dr. Margot Holloman, PhD

I am a Clinical Psychologist located in Cary, North Carolina. I am married, and I have three children. I love dogs, gardening, reading, music, photography, scrapbooking and anything crafty or creative. I am currently dabbling in woodworking, and I love to decorate. I have recently learned how to use wordpress. I first became confident about my computer skills through learning photoshop elements. I love to play cards and to do puzzles. If I wasn’t a psychologist, I would love to be the next Jane Goodall. I would study elephants, orangutangs, sea otters, and giraffes. I attended the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. I graduated from U.C. with Honors and received the Arthur G. Bills Award for Excellence in Research. I began graduate school at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in School Psychology. I decided I wanted to work primarily with therapy clients, so I transferred to The University of North Carolina at Greensboro where I received my Masters and Doctoral Degrees in Clinical Psychology. My research interests in graduate school primarily focused on developing and maintaining positive self-esteem. I have been in private practice in the Raleigh area for over 20 years. Over the years I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I have specialized in depression, anxiety, ADHD, and pregnancy and postpartum issues. I love positive psychology including how one develops resilience despite a difficult childhood or while overcoming challenges and adversity. I currently work full time with adults. I specialize in helping others adjust positively to change. I also focus on developing resilience and self compassion during life transitions. I like to assist others with developing healthy habits.
