I am new to town and needed an OD, and I can say without hesitation I have found the right one!!! I came in to her office with discomfort/ pain in my right eye. Dr. Labombarda is bright, articulate and excellent at what she does! She diagnosed the problem and after using the suggested drops for the last two days my pain is gone! I have total relief!!
I could not have been happier with my overall treatment experience!!

Dr. Maria Labombarda received her BS degree from Seton Hall University. She received her doctorate from Inter-American University School of Optometry where she graduated as TOP clinician and TOP of her class. She is also an exclusive member of the International Optometric Honor Society. Dr. Labombarda then excelled at her externship at Omni Eye Services of NJ before branching out on her own.
In the year 2000, her husband Dr. Bruce Fernandes and her started 2 successful family practices in Jersey City and Secaucus NJ. Being a mother of four children makes her very accommodating to children. She fits all contact lenses and diagnosis and treats most ocular diseases. Dr. Labombarda's best attributes are her caring, friendly, and down to earth personality.

Doctor is good but the front staff is rude and unhelpful. My trial lens was ready but she couldn't find it for one hour until the doctor intervened.

The doctor her self is awesome.
I ordered my son contact s; his first pair. He needs to attend a training on how to insert them and maintain them.
I mentioned to the doctor that I attend school at nights and work during the day. She was ok w scheduling a weekend appt for this.
Her secretary calls to schedule an appt on Wed @ 2p. First of all my son is in school and I am at work. I mentioned that that time didn't work and I was offered other appts during school hours.
When I told the secretary how inconvenient her appointments were she said "I don't know what you want me to do you".
I told her I wanted her to have the doctor call me.
The next day the secretary calls me to offer a Saturday appt. I remind her I wanted to speak to the doctor. Her reply (verbatim) is the doctor doesn't want to speak to you".
I am debating cancelling everything and ordering contacts from someplace else.

Dr. Labombarda saw me on short notice - I booked the appointment on a Friday night and was able to see her at 10am on Saturday. She double checked to ensure they took my insurance, and then moved on to examination. She was patient and explained her thought process and involved me in her decision.

The only negative experience was at the reception which is handled by different office. But as soon as Doctor saw us, things became good.

Fantastic appointment - couldn't be easier. From the moment I walked into the office, the atmosphere was clean and professional. The office was ready for me and sent me right over to Dr. Labombarda within minutes. Talking with Dr. Labombarda was easy. First, note that the doctor's office is inside the JCPenney's and so might seem a little odd to find and get to and the layout a little unorthodox, but don't let that deter you. While things started a little late (my appointment was at 10:15, but reception didn't open until around that time so I wasn't seen until 10:30), Ramona at reception had a great demeanor and Dr. Labombarda was professional, kind, efficient, and very helpful.

She is great. Very accommodating. She was quick and gave me advise after the results of my checkup. However, the staff at reception is a different story. I believe her name was Ramona. She was screaming from the end of the room to where i was seated. Told me i have no appointment even when i said i changed it and got confirnation. Then she started ranting that my insurance doesnt cover my checkup. I told her i have full covetage. Mind you, she has not checked my insirance card yet and she was still shouting from the other end. Of the room. was almost ready to walk out but unfortunately i have to sit through so i get my annual checkup done. Glad the doctor came out and explained to me the concerns. She is very kind.
