Maria had her start in nutrition in her early teens, as she competed in various beauty pageants across the tri-state area. During this process, she was put on various diets and countless amounts of exercise regimens, which left Maria exhausted and fearing some foods. As she realized that this was impacting her relationship with food, she took matters into her own hands and took a few classes in nutrition at her university. What started off as a fun way to learn about nutrition turned into a passion which led her into the career of dietetics. Receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition Science from CUNY Brooklyn College and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Nutrition from Marshall University.
Maria is experienced in providing nutrition counseling and management in various conditions, including: weight management, Type 2 diabetes, heart health, autoimmune conditions, sports nutrition, PCOS, intuitive eating, vegan/vegetarian nutrition, functional and integrative nutrition and gastrointestinal disorders. She found that her passion is in individual counseling for she feels that health is not only nutrition and exercise but the individual as a whole. Coming from a Greek background she was raised with traditional Mediterranean foods surrounding her and has a passion for cooking traditional Greek foods.
In her spare time Maria teaches Pilates, spends time with loved ones, loves to read, and travels around the world.
