Dr, Altenau is an old school medical professional. We talked about my problems, he took lots of notes and then made cultures for testing, He laid out both a preliminary treatment and follow up plan. I don't think you will find a better ENT diagnostician.

I went to my for allergies, his medicines gave me rashes not once but twice. The clinic needs some new furniture and reduced wait time. Lot of wooden instruments used donot have any covers and lie in a drawer. Most of his allergy medicines were not helpful and the others haven't had complete effect in a week now.
Only positive point is that he spent a good amount of time with me to understand my issues.

His patient area where he looks at you under the microscope is disgusting. Literally ear wax from prior patients just sitting out, dirty utensils laying out... Almost threw up when I walked in...

The Doc is old school in a pleasing way. Fiercely intelligent and thus a little odd, but very accessible and a total pro. I was only in for a sore throat that turned out to be stress-related, so perhaps if I had come with a more significant ailment, my assessment might have been different. As it is, however, this was probably one of my favourite doctor's visits I've ever had.

I had a horrible ear ache and had already been to a walk-in clinic a couple of days earlier (which gave me meds that was only making my problem worse) - Dr. Altenau got me in the same day with no waiting. The office was very outdated but Dr. Altenau knew exactly what the problem was and I was pain free when I left the office 20 minutes later. I was amazed!
