Mark was thorough in explaining the hearing test, but when my results were inconclusive, he couldn't explain to me why I would have a discrepancy between my outer and inner ears. After doing my own research and getting a second opinion, it is clear that there actually is an answer.

Folks, I've been going to audiologists all my life for a progressive hearing lost. This guy is a typical hearing aid dispenser. I was dismayed on arriving to see that his office, in the basement of an old Alexandria house does not have a real soundbooth and limited audiological equipment. The hearing test lasted maybe 5 minutes. There was no speech discrimination test. No loudness tolerance, no tympanogram, etc. Upon completing it, the very first thing he said was that I needed new aids. My aids might be a few years old, but they're still some of the best in the field. This guy did not go over the audiogram with me. I commented that I felt the aids needed tuning, so he casually connected it to his computer and did some tuning without explaining to me at all what he was doing. I put them in and though I didn't notice much difference at all, when I got out into the world, It was obvious he had turned the amplification up much too high. I now need to go to a more skilled audiologist to have the tuning fixed and a proper audiogram to accurately gauge where my hearing is. If you have a typical age-related hearing loss and just looking to get fitted for some aids, he might be OKAY. For everyone with serious and complex audiological needs, I advise you to stay clear of this audiologist.

I felt that he completed a thorough exam and then explained my options very patiently and clearly. I wish there were cheaper options to solve my issues, :-), but as he said, this is a long term investment that will greatly improve my quality of life and that is definitely worth it.

First, I was sent a confirmation text from Zoc Doc saying that the forms were sent to this Doc. I informed the clerk to check for the forms, he simply said they dont use those. I reminded him that those forms that I filled out on ZocDoc are the forms they provided so how could they be not what they want? Anyhow, Doctor was odd. Did a quick hearing test, said everything was good but didnt really address my ringing in my ears. Threw me in the hearing test booth literally within 10 seconds of walking in. Kept mentioning having my company send over a request or getting a workers comp form. I simply wanted an ear exam, to check to make sure everything was ok and address the ringing. I asked him to please look in my ears, he finally did for about 3 seconds and said all was well. Confused about this doctor. I had no copay and was told that the appointment was free but they may still bill insurance. Totally confusing. Anyhow, when I went in for my routine annual skin and eye tests with other doctors, both took time to look things over. I dont know what this ear doctor did. He didnt even take any notes and we were standing up talking the whole time. Find another audiologist. Think this guy is weird. Or maybe I should have gone to see an ENT.
