The mission of CAN Community Health is to inspire and contribute to the health and well-being of those affected by HIV, Hepatitis C, and other sexually transmitted diseases by providing the best care through outreach, integrated clinical practice, advocacy, education, and research.
Mark Moore is a native of rural Kentucky. He first saw health disparities in Appalachian communities at an early age which inspired his pursuit of an education in healthcare to improve access to care in marginalized communities. Mark has multiple degrees from Eastern Kentucky University and University of Kentucky including Biology, Medical Technology and Physician Assistant studies. Working as a medical technologist during the early years of the HIV/AIDS pandemic inspired him to further his education as a Physician Assistant to provide more direct care. After completing his training in 1996 he moved to Atlanta, GA during some of the worst years of the AIDS crisis and started work in HIV care and infectious diseases for the next decade.
Mark later relocated to Phoenix, AZ working in HIV care and then Public Health accumulating over thirteen years of experience in STI management as well as refugee health, travel medicine and latent tuberculosis management.
Mark joined CAN in November 2019 seeing an opportunity to move his community forward to ending AIDS and HIV by providing PrEP services, rapid initiation of treatment for HIV infection and reconnecting persons to care that live with HIV. During the 2020 COVID pandemic Mark helped expand telehealth services locally to provide patients access to services.
Mark maintains his certification as a Physician Assistant, he is certified as an HIV specialist by AAHIVM and has 26 years’ experience with HIV medicine and STI management. Mark continues to improve his Spanish speaking skills to reduce barriers to care for patients in Arizona and Texas
