Marvin L. Hsiao, MD is a comprehensive ophthalmologist, highly skilled in the medical and surgical care of all aspects of eye diseases. He is also a cornea specialist who performs corneal transplant surgery, complicated cataract surgery, refractive surgery, and surgery for ocular surface diseases. He is specialty trained in the management of dry eye syndrome and severe corneal infections. Dr. Hsiao performs refractive surgery with blade-less flap creation and wavefront optimized technology. He also performs cataract surgery with advanced technology lens implants to minimize the need for glasses after surgery.
Dr. Hsiao received his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Baylor University. His many undergraduate honors included the election into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Dr. Hsiao then obtained his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. During his residency training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dr. Hsiao conducted research projects and presented his findings at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology meetings. He also participated in publishing clinical articles. Dr. Hsiao then went on to complete a fellowship training in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at the world renowned Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. While there, Dr. Hsiao served as clinical instructor, and also as associate refractive surgeon at the UCLA Laser Refractive Center. Dr. Hsiao was highly regarded as both a physician and a surgeon during all levels of his training. Dr. Hsiao currently serves as Volunteer Assistant Professor at the UT Southwestern Medical School, teaching cataract surgery to ophthalmology residents.

This was my first eye appt. in literally 20 years. I was shocked to find that the staff seemed so rushed and uncaring. The lady that brought me back, administered eye drops without even saying much... She just touched my head and expected me to know what to do. Then NO ONE warned me NOT to drive after dilation drops.

I have been exceptionally pleased with the professionalism and concern I have experiences under the care of Dr. Hsiao. I had a very difficult and resistant fungal infection which required daily visits, including SATURDAYS and SUNDAYS. My first visit, when I was referred by my own opthomalogist, was after-hours on Friday, and the whole office was delayed because of me. I have called after-hours on several occasions and received immediate responses. When emergency surgery was required, everything was arranged instantly and effortlessly. Dr. Hsaio explained all aspects of my condition in detail and included me in all decisions. I felt a part of the treatment team at all times. I could recommend Dr. Hsaio without reservation, and have, in fact, done so already.
