Mary Thuermer is a licensed acupuncturist in Illinois and is board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She received her Master’s in Oriental Medicine from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, IL and also holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Development and a Master’s in Holistic Nutrition. Mary completed her acupuncture externship at Stroger Hospital in the Pain Clinic, where she treated a wide range of serious pain ailments.
Mary has been practicing acupuncture since 2013 in her own private practice in Evanston before joining Aligned Modern Health. While Mary has experience successfully treating a wide range of conditions including stress/depression, infertility, women’s health, and digestive issues, a significant part of her practice has been in pain management and integrative oncology. Being a breast cancer survivor herself, Mary brings a unique perspective that benefits her patients as well as the research and experience she had with her own battle and that of her patients.
Mary has also worked with the VA treating veterans for the past several years. Her passion for helping veterans began when she was a young adult as a professional dancer performing with the USO entertaining the troops overseas. She was fortunate enough to participate in 18 tours over the course of 17 years and is honored to have the opportunity to continue helping veterans as part of her acupuncture practice here at Aligned Modern Health.
