Dr. Matthew Lee is a licensed doctor of optometry who joined Silicon Valley Eye Physicians in November 2014. He is licensed and certified at the highest level in both California and Hawaii. Dr. Lee earned his B.S. degree in biology from Loyola Marymount University, where he graduated with Beta Beta Beta and Magna Cum Laude honors. He went on to receive his doctorate in optometry at the University of California, Berkeley, graduating with Beta Sigma Kappa honors.
While training at the premier Meredith W. Morgan University Eye Center, Dr. Lee refined his skills in the medical treatment of glaucoma, contact lens fittings, and prescribing eyeglasses for various visual needs. During his training, Dr. Lee also completed rotations at Veteran Affairs hospitals in Honolulu, HI and Reno, NV. He began his optometric career working in Waianae, HI, an underserved community with a high prevalence of ocular disease and manifestations of systemic disease.
He has a special interest in myopia control and enjoys orthokeratology (ortho-k) or corneal refractive therapy (CRT). Dr. Lee is a certified contact lens designer for multiple ortho-k lenses including Wave, a custom-made contact lens that is designed utilizing an advanced CAD/CAM system.
Dr. Lee is excited to be back in the Bay Area and is dedicated to compassionate, high quality vision care. He understands the importance of clear, comfortable vision and provides understandable explanations to patients to ensure the best care for their eyes.
Aside from practicing, Dr. Lee enjoys spending time with his wife, Lauren, the outdoors -hiking, ocean sports- as well as working out at the gym, and finding great places to eat.
