Munira Wirani joined the Northside Women's Specialists midwifery team in September 2015. After growing up in New York City, Oklahoma City and Chattanooga, Munira moved to Atlanta to attend Emory University. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor's Degree in Religious Studies with a minor in Arabic at Emory University in 2013. Her community involvement as an undergraduate included volunteering at a migrant farm worker family health project in Moultrie, Georgia. She earned her Masters of Science in Nursing at Emory in 2015, with certification as a nurse midwife and family nurse practitioner.
When asked why she became a midwife, Munira says " I enjoy empowering women and reminding them of their own strength. I am passionate about providing love and caring for women throughout their lifetime". Her areas of interest in patient care include advocating for the birth experience that women desire and support of cultural practices related to birthing and long-term contraception options.
When Munira is not wearing her lab coat, she enjoys reading, spending as much time outdoors as possible, and yoga.
