Board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Meryl E. Kahan, MD, FACOG, MSCP, launched SheMD in 2023 with the goal of providing women with compassionate and comprehensive care. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York, Upstate Medical University, and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Dr. Kahan sees patients for a wide range of gynecologic issues, from wellness exams and Pap smears to abnormal bleeding, contraception, and hormone replacement therapy. She also performs minor outpatient surgical procedures such as LEEPs, hysteroscopies, and D&Cs.
As a certified menopause provider and expert in bioidentical hormone therapy, Dr. Kahan offers specialized care tailored to women's hormonal health. Additionally, she is trained in numerous aesthetic procedures, including neurotoxins (Botox), fillers, PRP, PDO threads, microneedling, and Plexr rejuvenation and soft surgery.

My IUD insertion was indescribably painful. Dr. Kahan could not fit it in after several attempts and had to dilate my cervix, but left me sitting there in extreme pain for over 10 minutes as she tried to find the equipment or a nurse to assist in dilating me. It was unbearable. I was immobilized in pain on the table for over half an hour and then felt ushered out of the room even though I did not feel ready to leave. I did not feel any empathy nor was offered anything except maybe a Tylenol after the fact.

She is super friendly and totally non-judgmental. I was recommended by a friend because I was looking for a doctor that was good with younger women. Highly recommend her for younger patients. I'm sure she's just as comforting for older women also.

Had one of the first appointments of the day and barely had to wait. Was out in about 30 minutes total start to finish. Was a new patient getting an annual exam. Found Dr. Kahan to be concise and to the point, but understanding and willing to answer questions. Definitely made what is normally an uncomfortable experience very accommodating.
