I made an appointment on Zocdoc and was contacted by the receptionist shortly thereafter the same day indicating the time wasn’t available and I was rescheduled to another day and time. On that day I arrived for my appointment. 1 1/2 hours later I was still waiting to see the MD. Everyone in the packed waiting room was informed that the MD had two emergencies that morning. I was next to be seen but needed to leave for work so I said I would call to reschedule. Normally, at that point I’d find another doctor but, being in the health care field myself, I was getting “vibes” from his patients and the staff that Dr. Alleva was an exceptional doctor so I decided to give him another chance and made another appointment. On that day, I was seen at my appointment time. I met with the doctor who was willing to listen to my two issues of concern. Dr. Alleva scheduled me for a hearing test and the audiologist was extremely thorough. I also was given a blood test for allergies. I then met with Dr. Alleva again who spoke to me about the next steps he wanted to take to take including a CT scan of the nasal passages and a trial of steroids to see how the issue responded to steroids and, if positive, how long the relief remained. Dr. asked me to schedule a follow up appointment. The front desk said they would get insurance approval for the CT scan and notify me the next day. Finally I found an ENT who is taking my symptoms seriously and trying to learn about the cause of the problem instead of just treating the symptoms.

Dr. Alleva completed his undergraduate in 1979 from The State University of NY at Stony Brook. He graduated medical school at Cornell University in 1983 and went on to complete his Internship at Montefiore Hospital/Albert Einstein and then his Residency at The New York Eye & Ear Infirmary in 1988. In 1989, he completed his Otology Fellowship at Minnesota Ear, Head & Neck Institute. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Alleva is affiliated with two hospitals: New York Hospital of Queens and Flushing Hospital Medical Center. He is Board Certified in Otolaryngology (medical specialty of the ear, nose, and throat).
