In 1976, Dr. Michael Freeman established his private practice in Ocala, making him the second dermatologist in town and the first dermatologist with hospital privileges in the operating room. His practice was also the first in Ocala to be equipped with a laser for more comfortable treatment.
Dr. Freeman earned his Bachelor's degree with honors in Math and a Master's degree in Computer from Arizona State University. He earned his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine and was a Fellow in Dermatology at the Cleveland Clinic, where he was part of the American Academy of Dermatology Task Force for developing a biomedical computer system for Dermatology.
Dr. Freeman is considered the Dean of Dermatology in Ocala. He is a founding member of the Gainesville Dermatology Society and a member of several professional organizations.
Away from the office, he serves as Commissioner of the Boy Scouts of America and on the Board of Directors for the Ocala Civic Theater. He is also an honorable Air Force Veteran.
