I explained all my symptoms and the doctor had me do some motor skill tests and then stated what it could be. Never explained why or bothered to even show me the xray I had taken and what if anything he saw. Spent less than 10 minutes with me in total.
Even though I was informed of multiple issues requiring surgery, I feel that I am in good hands with Dr. Kalson. 40+ plus years of intensive labor work has left me in pretty bad shape. I am looking forward to getting through these surgeries and enjoying the rest of my life with my bride! Thank you Dr. Kalson for everything.
Verified patient
Dr. Kalson addressed my issues, and recommended a MRI before any further treatment. He also prescribed a muscle relaxer to help ease the pain.

My visit with Dr Kalson was very positive and informative. I am moving forward re a possible revision of my soon to be 23 year old total hip joint replacement. Many active years and I hope for a few more. With some help from Dr Kalson.
Verified patient
Dr. Kalson did my husband's torn meniscus surgery and he has done very well since. But I have not been pleased with the treatment from the staff nor the time spent with the doctor my last 2 visits. I made an initial appointment for "back pain", meaning my whole back, from the bottom of my skull to my tail bone. But evidently I did not give enough information and was not specific enough with the scheduler of appts. When I filled out medical information and marked the body with x's all the way the way down the back, left arm and left leg and took the form back to the lady at the reception window, she says "We can't see you for all of this, you appt. is for back pain, we can only see you for low back pain". Was taken to a room, given paper shorts, had x-rays done, the Dr. recommended an MRI, Dr. called in 2 prescriptions for inflammation and pain, and I was given back and neck exercises to do, and have done them every day. Was told that day that Dr. Kalson had 40 patients that day, in a 7 or 8 hour day, that works out to having less than 10 or 15 minutes per patient, not quality care in my mind. My second appt. was to review my MRI, but NIA (national imaging association) said I had not met the criteria, I have to wait 6 weeks with therapy, exercises, medicines, so cancelled MRI. Dr. Kalson was very frustrated that he had to spend 30 minutes of his valuable time with Coventry getting me approved for an MRI. So, I called back to ask if I could instead use that appt. for neck (cervical) pain and mid back (thoracic) pain, instead of reviewing my MRI. Was told, "That is a new condition? I guess so". I filled out another figure of the body with x's from the skull down the shoulder, down the arm, down the back. And was told once again, that I could only be seen for neck pain. So, 2 visits and I have now been seen for low back (lumbar) pain, and now neck (cervical) pain. I guess I will have to have a 3rd appt. for mid back (thoracic) pain. Did not appreciate how I was treated by the lady that greats you at reception. I guess she is just following orders from the doctor about who can be seen for what and how, and how much time is allotted. But it just seemed to me that it would have been more efficient and more cost effective, for everyone one concerned, (my time and pocketbook is valuable, too), had I been seen for all of my complaints and pain relating to my problems, had they been addressed in the first visit. But I accept part of the blame by not being more specific about my pain, saying only back pain, and not neck, shoulder, upper arm, elbow, lower arm, hand, mid-back, hip, low back, upper thigh, mid-thigh, back of knee, calf pain. Husband suffers with memory issues, so I went in with him to be able to remember what the doctor recommended during his visit today. Dr. recommended injections for nerve block, but did not address why he is nauseated from either the pain or the pain medication. And we were given no information about the procedure, no brochure or anything to research on our own. I feel I am a fairly informed patient and did not feel my husband nor I were treated with very much respect. Just herded in an out of the office like a number. Being left feeling very frustrated and confused. When you are dealing with people in pain, it is hard to concentrate when you are given less than 5 minutes with the doctor and are so rushed and cannot think beyond being rushed in and out of the office.

Excellent Doctor! Found him on Zoc Doc and would highly recommend for any issues involving orthopedic issues. He is patient, very attentive and clear in describing his conclusions from the examination. I would have to give him and his staff five stars in all areas of customer service.

I think the Dr. Kalson is great. He has helped me with two different issues with my back. Another Orthopedic surgeon was ready to send me to pain management but I was not ready to be on pain meds the rest of my life and thanks to Dr. Kalson I won't be. I ahd a disk fracture and he fixed it with a minor invasive surgery and in two days I was walking on the beach. Love him.
Verified patient
I've been a patient of Dr. Kalson's since 2006. I've had multiple surgeries because I shattered both shoulders in separate falls, and also injured my knee & ankle. He is a very caring doctor, straight forward & compassionate. I have recommended him to a number of people & friends. He will take the time needed to explain treatment needed. He has had the same office staff since I have known him. Not many ortho's really can repair major shoulder injuries & mine were extensive. He is a fantastic orthopaedist & runs a tight ship!
Verified patient
The visit was very good. I have improved and my hipis not hurting. My lower back is giving me some problems and I received exercises to do to hopefully strengthen my back and releave the pain.
Verified patient
Dr. Kalson is an excellent physician and surgeon. Our family has used his practice on several occasions over the past 12 years. We have always been very happy with our results and will continue our relationship with the practice.
Verified patient
Dr Kalson is great. I wouldn't even consider seeing a different orthopedic surgeon. If I ever do require surgery, he will be "The Man." So far, just cortisone shots that I don't even feel.
Verified patient

Dr. Kalson is a very professional and knowledgeable doctor and person. He knows what he is doing and gets resolution as so as he can.
Verified patient
He is one of my most trusted doctors. He had done 3 of the 4 joint replacements for my wife. He will do mine when I'm ready. His bedside manner isn't like a family doctor's, but he has always taken the time to answer my questions,
Verified patient
I was very pleased. My appointment was scheduled for 4:15. The office called and said there was an opening earlier at 1:30 so I was able to get into the office and see the Doctor before the afternoon traffic. We hope the shot will do the trick and all will be fine. The office staff is great and I feel very cared for each visit.

After a 20 minute wait it was decided that I needed to go home and get the CD of my MRI that I was given and NOT told that I had to bring to my appointment. I was told that it was MINE. and the doc would get his info. Then when I returned 20 min later I lost my appointment spot and waited over an hour! That was NOT fair! Saw the doc for all of 45 sec. But do l like him and staff. Was getting angry and was thinking about walking out but had already missed so much work time I didn't want to mess up another morning rescheduling
Verified patient
Impressed: He treats you as a person; not a number. He listens to what you have to say; answers your questions; and doesn't rush you.
