I highly recommend Dr. Lesem. Unlike psychiatrists that I've seen in the past, he actually took the time to talk to me and really listened. I feel like in his care, I will be ok again!

Dr. Lesem Doesn't treat you like a patient he teaches you how to understand your own mind, thoughts, feelings, emotions, and gives you the power to control them. He's amazing. Doug, who works at the front desk, is also awesome.

First few visits were very good and I was very impressed by his knowledge and demeanor. However, as soon as my husband stopped accompanying me to my appointments, each visit was a nightmare. He would routinely show up late (which is understandable to a degree when you're the first patient of the day) but when he started telling me that I have no friends, that I won't get a job, that I won't be successful I realized I needed to try to find another doctor. I have a small, tight-knit group of friends and he assumes to know the events in my life without allowing me to say more than one or two sentences before he cuts me off and berating me. Literally nothing I said would go without him using it to pummel my self-esteem into the ground. I talk about school, he tells me that if I report a professor who isn't doing their job and not showing up that I'll be shunned and never get a job (even though he wouldn't let me finish and explain that the professor had already been let go). I talk about my internship and somehow he uses that into telling me that I shouldn't work there and I was stupid for not going to a higher ranked school in a different state (even though I chose the school I'm going to because the job market in Houston is booming and I will have no student loans upon graduation). Basically, it's become something I have to endure. He put me on Effexor which isn't something you can just stop taking (unless you want major withdrawal symptoms) so I have to keep going to get the prescription refilled. I've finally had enough and I'm looking for another doctor that will actually listen to me and evaluate how I'm doing on the medications I've been prescribed.

Easy to talk to and he really makes you feel comfortable. He is very thorough and explains things in detail to you. instead of talking at you he talks with you and that makes a world of a difference for me.

Dr. Lesem is absolutely wonderful. He is very professional, while compassionate and relaxed simultaneously. Cares about his patients and a great listener. I always feel very comfortable and free of judgement while in our sessions. I would recommend him to anyone.

The office was un-professional. They had changed my appointment 3 times and then I still had to wait more than two hours. The Dr. seemed to not be concerned with my problems and only wanted to give me a prescription and get me out the door.

His tone is about as comforting as static on radio and he has the personality of a potato. He is highly argumentative, to the point of being insulting, hurtful and unprofessional, and displays no empathy. Having any form of discussion with him is impossible, as he doesn't bother to listen to you. It's absolutely scary thinking of the possibility of his rude behavior triggering a sensitive person.

Dr. Lesem was kind, informative and truly understands mental illness and disorders. He wants the best for his patients which is shown thru his incredibly warm bedside manner.

He was very attentive and I really appreciate the fact that he took the time to listen to and remedy my problems. With my previous psychiatrist, I spoke to him once for maybe 30 minutes (being generous) then every visit afterwards I had to talk to a nurse practitioner yet I was still charged the full office visit to see him. With Dr. Lesem, he guaranteed me that I would only be talking with him and I felt that I could talk to him freely without judgement. He even made me feel better about my deficits!

Saw Dr. Lesem for the first time. Great bedside manner. Very knowledge about medications. Took a lengthy history and from that provided medication that he thought would work. Went away feeling I had just met a really competent physician but also really nice guy.

Dr. Lesem was excellent!! I can't stop raving about him to my friends and family. He made me feel cared for and safe talking about what I felt I needed help with. He has a great sense of humor and will get to know you before sticking a prescription in your hand and yelling "next!" like most doctors now. From what I can tell he is very dedicated to taking care of his patients and wants to help the best he can. The doctors office on Yoakum very small, it is a little smaller than a utility apartment. I went to see Dr. Lesem for ADHD and he asked a ton of questions about my medical and emotional history to get a feel for if he thought I had ADHD or something else inhibiting my ability to stay on task. He is an amazing doctor and if you have struggled with any type of psychological issue(s) I would absolutely suggest you see him as soon as you can. I have been struggling for at least 15 years and have seen plenty of head doctors but none compare to Dr. Lesem. Oh! Not sure if I noted this, he has a fun sense of humor if that is something you look for in a Doctor.

Douglas, the Office Manager is extremely organized and informative. I was very appreciative of the calendar invite sent to me via email.
Doctor Lesem is very kind and makes you feel comfortable. This was very important to me as this was my first appointment. He made me feel at ease and never as if he was judging me when discussing personal topics. He took the time to ask me questions and explain different options for treatment, but most importantly the reasons why. I was very pleased and would recommend anyone to see him if you're looking for a physician who is passionate about helping his patients.

As a long-time patient, I have come to rely on Dr. Lesem's professionalism, patience, observational skills, and depth of knowledge. He is easy to talk to and seems to genuinely care about the well-being of his patients. In this most recent appointment, he offered both reassurance and invaluable advice. The wait time was less than 10 minutes.

He knows things, however he has a hard time understanding human behavior and relating it to a mental illness if the diagnosis is not extremely obvious. He would ask me where is my common sense when I do the things I do, which is offensive, because that is why I'm there, because I have a mental problem, he took me out of his practice because he said he did not know what to do with me, after just one visit and one emergency visit to the hospital, he just took all his responsibility off of me. I guess he just wants patience that would take their meds and shut up, if their illness complicates their and his life, then he just takes them out of his practice, which makes me doubt he really wants to help anyone.
