Dr. Michael Nusbaum is a world-renowned weight loss expert who has been in practice helping weight loss patients in New Jersey for over 25 years. Dr. Michael Nusbaum is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, a Fellow and member of the American College of Surgeons, as well as a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Nusbaum is a leading authority in weight loss and bariatric surgery and has been recognized as a New Jersey Top Doc every year since 2007.
In 1998, Dr. Nusbaum established Saint Barnabas Medical Center’s bariatric surgery program, performing the first laparoscopic gastric bypass and banding procedures there. He served as the cheif of bariatric surgery from 1998 until 2009. He also served as the bariatric section chief for the department of surgery at Morristown Medical Center and surgical director at the Metabolic Medicine and Weight Control Center there from 2008 until 2019. Dr. Nusbaum has also coauthored definitive textbooks in the field of bariatric surgery. He has appeared as a weight control and obesity expert on NBC’s Today Show and elsewhere in the media.
