Mihir Patel, MD, MS is a board-certified Internal Medicine Physician. He joined The GW Medical Faculty Associates in June of 2014 and is an assistant professor in The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. He completed his Internal Medicine training at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He subsequently pursued his interests in lifestyle behavior change and ethnic disparities in a national research service award fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York. There he obtained a masters of science in clinical epidemiology while studying cardiovascular disease and barriers to lifestyle behavior change in South Asian immigrants. After completing his fellowship, he remained in New York as a hospitalist at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital where he also served as clerkship co-director for third year medical students.
His interests include preventative primary care and medical education.
Dr. Patel believes in evidence based medicine and that the judicious use of diagnostic tests and therapeutic interventions are the hallmarks of quality primary care.
