More about Dr. Mina Chen, OD
Dr. Mina Chen is the owner of Bright Eyes Optometry. A Bay Area native, Dr. Chen received her Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology from UC Santa Barbara. After college she worked for an optometry practice in San Francisco where she fell in love with the profession. She then went on to obtain her Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York in Manhattan. During this time she became a member of Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) and served on a mission trip in Nicaragua. This experience of providing eye care for a community in need has permanently shaped her approach to compassionate patient care. Dr. Chen completed rotations at SUNY Specialty Contact Lens, New York Vision Group, and the Southern Arizona VA Hospital. Dr. Chen ultimately knew her true passion was in private practice and that she would return home to California to be close to family. She was an associate optometrist in Rohnert Park when she discovered Petaluma's charm and decided that this is where she wanted to put down roots.
Dr. Chen opened the doors of Bright Eyes in 2021 in downtown Petaluma. She is so thrilled to provide exceptional eye care to her patients. She is a member of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control and has a special focus in myopia management with corneal refractive therapy. Dr. Chen’s favorite weekend activities include exploring new cuisines and hiking with her husband, Ian, and their two Miniature Australian Shepherds, Chloe and Kona.
